Ingredients:
- 2 plain bagels, split horizontally
- 0.5 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 0.25 cup mini pepperoni slices
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 2 tbsp parmesan cheese, finely grated
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) or prepare your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Slice the bagels horizontally with a serrated knife.
- Place bagel halves cut side up in the oven or air fryer and toast for 2 minutes until the surface is lightly crisp. Note: This step is mandatory to prevent sogginess.
- Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce onto each toasted bagel half. Spread it all the way to the edges to keep the rim from burning.
- Top each half with a generous layer of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Add the mini pepperoni slices across the cheese surface.
- Sprinkle the Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese evenly over the toppings.
- Tuck the pepperoni slightly under the cheese edges. Note: This prevents them from flying around if you are using an air fryer.
- Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and edges are golden brown.
- If using an air fryer, cook at 375°F (190°C) for 4-5 minutes until the cheese is molten and scorched in spots.
- Remove from heat and let them sit for 2 minutes before serving. This allows the sauce to thicken so it doesn't run when you bite in.
