Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 8 medium corn tortillas

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Place a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef in a flat layer and sear undisturbed for 3–4 minutes until a dark brown crust forms. Break the meat into small crumbles and cook until no pink remains.
  3. Sprinkle the spice blend over the browned beef and stir for 60 seconds until aromatic. Pour in the water or beef broth, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 5–7 minutes until the liquid reduces into a thick glaze.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a pan until heated through and slightly charred.
