Ingredients:
- 4 medium Bosc pears
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup pure Grade A maple syrup
- 1 tbsp melted unsalted butter
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup raw walnuts, roughly chopped
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Slice the pears in half lengthwise. Use a paring knife or melon baller to remove the core and seeds, creating a small well in the center.
- Brush the cut surfaces with lemon juice. Arrange them cut side up in a 9x9 inch baking dish. Note: This stops the fruit from browning.
- In a small bowl, whisk the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix until the liquid is smooth and glossy.
- Spoon the glaze evenly over each pear. Make sure the center wells are completely filled.
- Bake on the center rack for 20 minutes.
- Remove the dish and sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the tops.
- Return to the oven for 5 to 10 minutes until the pears are fork tender and the glaze is bubbling.
