Ingredients:

  • 4 medium Bosc pears
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup pure Grade A maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup raw walnuts, roughly chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. Slice the pears in half lengthwise. Use a paring knife or melon baller to remove the core and seeds, creating a small well in the center.
  3. Brush the cut surfaces with lemon juice. Arrange them cut side up in a 9x9 inch baking dish. Note: This stops the fruit from browning.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk the maple syrup, melted butter, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix until the liquid is smooth and glossy.
  5. Spoon the glaze evenly over each pear. Make sure the center wells are completely filled.
  6. Bake on the center rack for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove the dish and sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the tops.
  8. Return to the oven for 5 to 10 minutes until the pears are fork tender and the glaze is bubbling.
