Ingredients:
- 6 large (approx. 3 lbs / 1.36 kg) pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tbsp (30ml) lemon juice
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 tsp (2.6g) ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch
- ¼ tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- ½ tsp (3g) ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp (1.5g) salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt until every slice is coated. Pour the pears into a 9x9 inch baking dish, spreading them evenly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the chilled, cubed butter and use a fork or pastry cutter to work it into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs with some pea-sized chunks.
- Scatter the crumble topping evenly over the pears without pressing down. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the fruit juices bubble around the edges and the topping is mahogany-colored gold.
- Let the crisp cool for 10 minutes to allow the sauce to set before serving.
