Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Place a large skillet or cast iron pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it into small crumbles with a spoon. Cook until the meat is a deep mahogany brown and the liquid has evaporated.
  2. Sprinkle the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder directly over the browned beef. Stir constantly for 2 minutes until the flour loses its raw scent and combines with the beef fat to form a thick, golden paste.
  3. Reduce heat to medium. Slowly pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while whisking constantly to ensure no lumps form.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy is glossy and thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
